This site is always under development, so there are many pages to be added/expanded and to have details or images added. It takes a lot of time, research and work to build a site like this. So far it has been purely my own work, traveling at weekends to bookshops and Roman sites around the country gathering information. Then there are the long evenings tapping away on a hot keyboard.
So any input or comments you would like to make would be really appreciated. Although I will try to answer questions on the subject of the Romans in Britain, I cannot do research or give directions and travelling times to Roman sites. You would be surprised at some of the requests I get!
If you are contacting me regarding a specific museum, please could you contact the museum direct. I am not associated with any of the museums shown on this site. I just host a page for them.
If you are a museum wanting to be listed on my site, please contact me here and I will send you details of how to get your free page.
Romans in Britain - The new site By the end of 2006, I plan to have completely overhauled the Romans in Britain site. Since the current site first saw the light of day early in 2001 web design has developed to the nth degree and it's time to give the site a makeover.
The plan is for the new site:
To be without frames. Each page will be a standalone entity.
Have a new layout and colour scheme reflecting the content.
Be more interactive. Be more accessible to anyone who has sight difficulties - scalable text sizes for the partially sighted and a colour scheme for the colour blind etc.
To make it suitable for text readers.
Each page to have a link to a printable version so you can print out each page without printing any links or menus.
To have the spelling and grammar corrected. (A result of my dyslexia)
There will be other technical changes that you won't see but will make it easier for me to administer the site. For the technically minded, instead of loading a static page, each page will be made dynamically using PHP and MySQL so global changes will be easier.
It will take time to change all 430 pages, but I believe the end result will be worthwhile.
If you have any ideas or suggestions for the new site, please tell me here.
